Until the early 90’s I was primarily a painter and a writer. Through the unpredictable and sometimes extraordinary unfolding of life, I took a turning that fully immersed me in the world of theatre and film. This became my prime focus, writing, directing and producing plays and films, and helping to run a theatre as well. Throughout that two-decade period I never stopped painting. In fact, away from the style tyranny of the art world I had the luxury to paint whatever I wished, which resulted in these paintings here as well as an abstract period not represented and many more which have been sold or donated over the years. I am now returning to painting and it’s a bit like falling in love again. The words of TS Eliot come to mind.
We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring/ Will be to arrive where we started/ And know the place for the first time.
